FELDA BUKIT WAHA


Named after a hill

ow FELDA Bukit Waha gets its name is not known for a fact, but it is believed that it is derived from a hill in the vicinity which is “Bukit Waha.’ The name is thought to exist since World War 2.





Planned Settlements

ELDA Bukit Waha has about 364 settlers, mostly Malay. Its residents live in harmony since early settlement. The community is arranged in blocks to facilitate ease of management. Cooperation and healthy lifestyle have been practised by the residents for generations.




Palm and tapioca

emographic factors such as the location of Johore in fertile lowlands enable various agricultural activities to flourish. It is not surprising then that most residents in FELDA Bukit Waha have their own source of income, which derives from tapioca and oil palm plantation. They either market the tapioca in its raw form or turn it into traditional food products like tapai ubi (fermented tapioca). Some residents turn to business as their source of income. The average monthly income for FELDA Bukit Waha residents is estimated about RM 1,500.

ince its commencement in 1973 and mass settlement of residents in the 1980s, FELDA Bukit Waha has gone through many changes and development. Today all basic amenities like water and electric supplies as well as telephone lines are available here. There are also schools, clinics, a mosque, taxi stand, community hall, and others which allow the residents to lead comfortable lives.

linik Kesihatan Bukit Waha is a healthcare centre available in FELDA Bukit Waha. With 15 personnel lead by Dr. Yazid Ahmad, this clinic renders pre and post natal examination as well as paediatric, outpatient and pharmacy services, among others. It operates from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm with minimal fees of RM1.00 per session for each patient. This is in line with the government aspiration to have healthy society through optimum healthcare services.



Recreational Activities Bridge Community Ties

ELDA Bukit Waha Hall is the centre for recreational activities amongst its residents. It is the place for the residents to hang out, assemble or organise aerobic-like activities like senamrobik. There is also a field where the youths play football in the evening. The facilities available here motivate the residents to lead healthy lifestyle.
